Qatar’s Emir Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani has postponed a visit to Germany scheduled for April 18-20 because of the shutting down of European airports. No new date for the visit was given by Qatar News Agency (QNA).

However, the official news agency said that the Emir had given instructions to offer assistance to all Qatari nationals stranded in Europe.

“All our embassies in Europe have been instructed by HH the Amir to take all necessary measures to offer prompt assistance to all Qatari nationals affected by the closure of airports in Europe,” a foreign ministry spokesperson told QNA on Monday.

Qatari media have reported that several officials who were on missions in Europe had been unable to return home or continue their way onwards because of the shutting down of several European airports.

Kuwait’s Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on Sunday said that all Kuwaitis stranded in Europe or unable to reach Europe should be given all kinds of assistance.
