The impact of current financial and economic trends on local, regional and international relations and security will be examined at an international conference in Bahrain next month.

London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) said that the Bahrain Global Forum on May 14-16 would bring together finance ministers, treasury officials, leading economists and finance and business figures from several countries including most G20 states.

According to organizers, the conference will assist with the development of sound public policies to deal with the impact of geo-economic changes.

The list of the expected speakers includes Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the deputy chairman of India’s Planning Commission, Samir Rifai, Jordan’s prime minister, Pascal Lamy, the director general of the World Trade Organisation, Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Qatar’s deputy prime minister and minister of energy and industry, Shaikh Ahmad Fahad Al Sabah, Kuwait’s deputy prime minister for economic affairs and minister of state for development and housing affairs, Otaviano Canuto, World Bank’s vice president and Carl Bildt, Sweden’s foreign minister.

IISS has organised the Manama Dialogue, an international security conference, in Bahrain annually.
