Bahraini airport police arrest 16 passengers with bogus passports

May 9, 2010

Bahrain police on Sunday arrested 14 Chinese nationals with fake Japanese passports.

The detainees had attempted to enter the country on a pre-dawn flight from Dubai.

The police, who had doubts about the authenticity of the last two passports, detained their holders and eventually arrested the remaining 12 suspects from their hotels in Manama.

The sources said that the airport police also arrested two Iranians carrying bogus British passports late on Saturday night.

The sources did not mention where the two passengers were comingfrom.
