Kuwait foreign minister lashes out at Avigdor Lieberman
Kuwait’s foreign minister has lashed out at Israel’s foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman, saying he was an “unbalanced man” who is destroying Israel’s reputation.
“I do regret the abusive language used by Lieberman about the Palestinians,” Shaikh Mohammad Al Salem Al Sabah’s said. “His past statement about Israel’s readiness to bomb the High Aswan Dam in Egypt and his current allegations about Turkey and his rejection of cooperating with the international community are insane. He is probably the man who is doing most to damage Israel’s international reputation. He is antagonistic and I expect the worst from him,” he told reporters before embarking on a trip to Egypt.
Last week, Lieberman said that a Palestinian state would not be established in the next two years.
“I’m an optimistic person, but there is absolutely no chance of reaching a Palestinian state by 2012,’’ Lieberman said. “One can dream and imagine, but we are far from reaching understandings and an agreement.”
His remarks were seen as a fresh blow to peace efforts.
