Qatar Charity has trained 100 of its employees in jurisprudence and the calculation of Zakat (alms) four weeks before the start of Ramadan.

The training programme conducted in three sessions aimed to qualify the participants to assist donors in the calculation of Zakat.

Experts in Shariah, Zakat and accounting conducted the workshops in which both male and female staff of Qatar Charity took part to gain insights into Zakat-related issues.

“The courses were aimed at staff at Qatar Charity, who are in contact with donors. The course was completed within the framework of the preparations for Ramadan,” Khalid Fakhroo, Director of Public Relations at Qatar Charity, said, quoted by Qatari daily The Peninsula.

The training programme was conducted over the last three months from April to July, and has included staff members from Qatar Charity’s headquarters, branches as well as Zakat collectors in shopping centres.

The course included lessons on calculating Zakat, which included the rulings on Zakat accounting and wealth in the first part, and the second focused on jurisprudence and accounting Zakat for companies. The third session focused on various kinds of Zakat.

The charity organisation also provides services to companies on Zakat issues by going through the company’s account details and evaluation of company assets subject to Zakat. It also provides services to calculate various Zakats on jewellery, shares, bonds, business activities and livestock.
