A Saudi family was shocked to discover that the maid who served them for seven months was in fact a man.

The gentle features, soft facial looks and smooth manners of the maid who is reportedly gay have seemingly duped the family, Saudi daily Al Jazira reported.

The gender was discovered when the domestic helper said “she” wanted to go home after seven months of services and was taken to the department for outgoing helpers where the authorities found out that “she” was a man.

The head of the family head had the shock of his life upon learning the true identity of their helper, the daily said.

Saad Al Badah, the head of recruitment, blamed health clinics tasked with screening domestic helpers for the issue.

“They obviously have a huge deficiency issue that needs to be fixed,” he said. “Expatriates undergo a health test to ensure that they are in good condition, and many domestic helpers were sent home when it was discovered that they had contagious diseases or were pregnant. People should not be made to suffer because of a wrong diagnosis,” he said, quoted by the Saudi daily.
