Qatar’s schools will re-open on September 19, the education minister said on Wednesday.

The decision applies to all private, independent and government schools as well as students and teachers.

The date of the new academic year, eight days after Eid Al Fitr, , will allow expatriate teachers to spend the feast that marks the end of Ramadan in their home countries.

The minister said the mid-year break will be on February 13 and will last two weeks, while the summer break will start for the students on July 7.

However, teachers and school staff will continue working until July 21, according to the decision, published by Qatar News Agency (QNA).
