Kuwait on Thursday welcomed a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) decision to follow up on a fact-finding committee on the Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.

Derar Razouqi, Kuwaiti’s permanent representative, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the UNHRC had sent a clear message to Israel through its resolution to stop its breaches of international law and violations of human rights law.

“The overwhelmingly backed decision is an unequivocal message to the international community that the UNHRC will not ignore such Israeli violations,” he said, adding that the UNHRC condemned the brutal attack by Israel on Gaza-bound aid ships attempting to break the over-three-year Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Israel must put an end to its blockade on the Gaza Strip, which is considered an illegitimate collective punishment of civilians by the UN, the Kuwaiti diplomat said.
