History connections and cultural exchanges between the Ottoman and European empires will be discussed at a conference to be organised by the Orientalist Museum next month in Qatar.

The conference at the Museum of Islamic Art on November 28 and 29 is scheduled alongside the Orientalist Museum exhibition “A Journey into the World of the Ottomans” as part of the celebrations of Doha as Arab Capital of Culture for 2010.

Distinguished scholars from art history, cultural studies, literature, architectural history, and Ottoman history, as well as museum professionals, from some of the most important institutions of the world will investigate crucial topics, organizers said.

Orientalism in art and the development of exchanges between the two empires from the 16th to the 21st centuries will also be reviewed by the scholars, Qatari daily The Peninsula reported.
