The family of the 47-year-old Qatari national who died in Ras Khaimah, UAE, while attempting to rescue a driver from drowning, has paid rich tribute to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his compassion and care.

Saad Mubrarak Abdul Rahman, a Qatari army officer, was in the coastal city to visit a friend when he saw a car driven fall into the creek near the Ras Al Khaimah Bridge.

According to the friend, “Saad’s immediate reaction was to rush to dive and rescue the driver, even though he was a complete stranger.”

“However, despite his heroic effort, Saad drowned. He was a hero who did not think about his life to save a stranger,” the friend said in Doha.

Ibrahim, Saad’s borther, lauded Shaikh Mohammad for offering his private jet to transport Saad’s body to Qatar where he was buried on Monday.

“His kind and compassionate initiative and his great interest in the case of my brother has helped our family and has alleviated our pain and suffering,” Ibrahim said, Qatari daily Al Sharq reported on Tuesday. “The accident was unexpected, but the initiative and gesture of the UAE were not surprising and we are grateful.”

Saad leaves behind a wife, four daughters and a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
