Bahrain’s traffic authorities have urged drivers to be extra cautious after 35 rain-related road accidents were recorded in three hours on Tuesday morning.

“These are difficult conditions, and drivers have to drive slowly and cautiously,” said Mousa Al Dossari, the head of traffic awareness.

“The numerous diversions resulting from heavy construction work and the slippery roads because of the rain demand that drivers be extremely careful in order to avoid accidents,” he said, following the spate of accidents between 6am and 9am.

Drivers were also urged to avoid making or answering phone calls while driving.
