Runaway camel causes traffic chaos in Doha

February 18, 2011

A run-away camel had jaw-dropping motorists slam their brakes hard, some in awe and others in excitement as the animal ambled near a roundabout on D-Ring Road in Doha.

As the animal sauntered in the street, oblivious to the traffic chaos it was causing around midnight, a driver called the police who arrived soon to restore order.

However, just before the patrol arrived, a citizen had moved in to calm the Ship of the Desert, Qatari daily The Peninsula reported.

The animal was handed back to the owner who had earlier reported it missing from his camel breeding farm.
