Shaikh Ahmad, Al Saraawi and Al Ganem - Al Aan

Two Kuwaiti lawmakers on Tuesday filed to grill Shaikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, the state minister for development and the state minister for housing, over alleged financial mismanagement, misleading public opinion and undermining Kuwait’s reputation.

MPs Marzouq Al Ganem and Adel Al Saraawi, members of the National Action Bloc, said that their move was based on squandering public money through constitutional and legal violations and financial irregularities on housing tenders as well as facilitating the acquisition of public funds and misusing them through constitutional and legal violations to hold the Olympic Council of Asia.

Under the request, Shaikh Ahmad will also have to respond to charges of breaking laws on the development plan and misleading public opinion, breaking national laws and undermining the reputation of Kuwait and to trying to stop sports activities internationally.

The two lawmakers said that the grilling, scheduled for April 5, is supported by their six-member parliamentary bloc and a high number of opposition MPs.
