Kuwait Municipality will next week honour environmentally aware citizens by offering them rewards at a special ceremony.

“The award ceremony is being held to encourage greater efforts to conserve and reduce wastage of electricity and water use in order to better protect the country’s natural environment,” Fadhil Safar, the minister of public works and state minister for municipality affairs, told Kuwait News Agency (Kuna).

The awards will be handed out to Kuwaiti residents of the areas of Yarmouk, Surra and Qortoba.

“Awarding the families in these areas will have a positive effect on the issue of maintaining cleanliness and to the society as a whole,” the minister said.

Awards will also be presented for the prettiest and tidiest garden in each area.
