Leading Kuwaiti sociologist Khaldoon Al Naqeeb dies

April 27, 2011

Dr Khaldoon Hassan Al Naqeeb, one of Kuwait’s most prominent sociologists, has died, local media reported.

Al Naqeeb, 69, was the dean of the University of Kuwait between 1978 and 1981 and again between 1986 and 1992.

He was the co-founder of a magazine dedicated to sociology and was its editor-in-chief from 1983 to 1986.

Al Naqeeb authored several research and studies, published mainly in Arabic magazines, and focused on the Arabs in a globalised world, the future of the Arab social thinking, social conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the future of the Gulf in an increasingly globalised world.
