Bahrain wants new priorities in government action plan

May 9, 2011

Bahrain’s parliament on Monday pulled out a report commenting on the government’s action plan, saying that it needed to re-draft it.

Members from the lower and upper chambers, in a rare joint session, said that their copy needed to be amended to bring it in line with the latest developments in Bahrain.

In a three-hour debate, several elected and appointed representatives highlighted the need to re-prioritize demands and called for setting a permanent base for units from the Peninsula Shield, the military arm of the Gulf Cooperation in Bahrain.

Lawmakers also called for appointing media attachés in major Bahraini embassies in the Arab world, Europe and North America.

The lower and upper chamber will now have to present a new draft that will be discussed at a joint session.
