An American woman and a Bangladeshi labourer in Kuwait have been sentenced to 10 years in jail for drug trafficking.

The prison terms will be followed by deportation, Kuwait’s Court of Appeals said, upholding the verdict of a lower court.

According to the case documents, the woman was arrested after she agreed to deliver an undisclosed quantity of hashish to an undercover agent.

During interrogations at the Criminal Investigation Department, she admitted the crime, Kuwaiti daily Arab Times reported.

A Bangladeshi labourer was arrested the next day in a similar undercover operation. He had drugs and weighing scales, the daily said.
