Bahraini singer Ali Bahar, 50, dies

Ali Bahar, one of Gulf’s best known singers, died on Sunday following a brief illness. He was 51. Ali rose to celebrity in Muharraq, Bahrain’s second largest city, where his father was a well known seaman. He also lived in Sharjah where he has several friends and supporters.

Kuwaiti societies plan to offer assistance in Ramadan

Kuwait’s Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies (UCCS) has decreased the prices of 100 imported cooperative commodities by 20 percent for three months. The price reduction, between July 3 and October 3, aims to help citizens and expatriates with their expenses during Ramadan, the Muslims’ scared month, a UCCS official said.
