Bahrain denies woman died during clashes
Bahrain’s interior ministry has denied a report that a woman died on Friday during clashes between riot police and anti-government protesters.
“The woman did not die from inhaling tear gas,” the head of the police in the Central Governorate, said. “The Operations Room was requested at around 8pm to help provide an ambulance for a 46-year-old woman. The checkup confirmed that she died of natural causes,” the officer said in a statement.
According to the police, there was no security-related action at the time of the death report in the area.
Reports had surfaced that the woman, Zainab Hasan, died after police fired tear gas in the Sitra area to deal with protests.
