Th victim after the tragic suicide attempt - El Chorouk

An Algerian man with a university degree in legal studies has set himself ablaze after his plea to be given a job was turned down by an official employment agency.

Citing witnesses it did not name, Algerian daily El Chorouk said that K. Abdullah, 30, felt frustrated after the head of the agency in Ouargla, in southern Algeria, told him that he could not do anything for him despite earlier pledges to help him.

The victim who also has an aptitude diploma to work as a lawyer poured gasoline on his clothes and torched himself inside the offices. He then fell down the stairs before he was helped by the guards.

An ambulance transported him to the local hospital, but his condition is critical and needed to be taken to Algiers the capital or abroad, the daily said.
