Opposition ponders next moves in Kuwait

Kuwait’s opposition lawmakers will be holding a meeting later today, Thursday, to agree on their next moves. The meeting will be held at an MP’s office in the parliament where hundreds of protesters muscled their way on Wednesday evening to press for the resignation of the government.

Predominantly Muslim Bahrain is home to 19 churches

Bahrain, an overwhelmingly Muslim country, has 19 officially registered churches, statistics indicate. Half of the churches are located in the Capital Government, the figures from the social development ministry, show. The National Evangical Church became in 1906 the first church to offer services in Bahrain.

Bahrain sets up hotline to address public sector needs

Bahrain’s civil service bureau (CSI) has set up a hotline to receive complaints and suggestions to help overcome problems. “We are keen on better relations and communications with human resources in order to improve standards to address problems and difficulties,” the CSI, in charge of the public sector, said.

Qatar to restructure foreign ministry, set up diplomacy institute

Qatar is to set up a diplomacy institute within its foreign ministry, a local daily reported. The move is part of an overall restructuring of the ministry that will include appointing three undersecretaries to assist the minister, Al Arab daily said on Thursday.

Kuwait to hold emergency meeting after hundreds storm parliament in protest

Kuwait’s government is likely to hold an emergency meeting on Thursday morning to discuss the latest dramatic developments in the country. Kuwaiti media said that the session would be chaired by the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah and that significant decisions could be announced.
