25,000 high school students sit for exams in Bahrain

Around 25,000 students are sitting for the end of semester exams in Bahrain’s government-run high schools, the education ministry said. The number could have been higher if stringent disciplinary action against students with a record of unexcused absent days, it said.

Obama names Stevens as US ambassador to Libya

US President Barack Obama has nominated John Christopher Stevens as US ambassador to Libya. Stevens served as Special Representative to the Libyan Transitional National Council from March 2011 to November 2011. From 2007 to 2009, he served as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Tripoli, Libya.

Kuwait mobilises legal, military teams for elections

Kuwait has mobilised 548 legal consultants, judges and prosecutors for the parliamentary elections next month. The legal staff will be tasked with supervising the polling process in which more than 400,000 voters are expected to cast their ballots to choose 50 members of parliament.
