Kuwaitis will have a four-day holiday to celebrate their national holidays later this month.

The celebrations will be from Friday 24 until Monday 27 after the authorities decided to replace Saturday, a regular day off, will be compensated by Monday.

The National Day is on Saturday and Liberation Day is on Saturday. Kuwaitis traditionally celebrate both occasions with great fanfare, although the information ministry said that it would not broadcast the concert as a mark of respect for the victims of the uprising in Syria.

Popular singer Nabeel Shuail said that he would not perform in the celebrations.
