Move to question Kuwait prime minister dropped

A Kuwaiti lawmaker has bowed to pressure from colleagues and withdrew a motion to quiz the prime minister. The move by MP Abaid Al Wasmi was supported by some lawmakers, but met resistance from his bloc and from other MPs who said that the government deserved a grace period to fulfill its promises.

Kuwaiti newspaper suspended for two weeks

A Kuwaiti newspaper has been suspended for another two weeks for “breaking the publishing laws.” The ruling is the second against Al Dar after it was also suspended for another two weeks earlier this month following a lawsuit by the information ministry, the Al Aannews site reported on Monday.

Couple sentenced to death for murdering Filipina helper

A Kuwaiti court on Sunday sentenced a Kuwaiti couple to death for the premeditated murder of their Asian domestic helper. According to the court papers, the wife maltreated and punished the helper, thought to be a Filipina, daily with the knowledge of her husband.

Ten Arab leaders to attend Baghdad summit: Iraqi official

At least 10 Arab leaders will attend the Arab summit in Baghdad, Iraq’s ambassador to the Arab League has said. “The other countries will be represented at the summit on March 29 by officials at various levels, according to their conditions,” Qais Al Azzawi said, quoted by Kuwaiti daily Al Nahar .

Kuwaiti police are looking for a man who swindled an Indian national of KD 350 ($1,258) after promising him a KD 100,000 ($359,428) prize. The complainant told the police that he had received a telephone call from an unidentified man who informed him that he had won the prize from a telecommunications company, the Arab Times reported.
