Google honours Qatar university achievers

Google has recognised two Carnegie Mellon students through its 2012 Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship programme, the university has said. The recipients, Sidra Alam and Hanan Mohammad Alshikhabobakr, were among 40 young women chosen this year in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Bahrain home to Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage

Manama, the 2012 Capital of Arab Culture, has become the home of the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) after its premises were formally opened by the culture minister. “The Ministry of Culture has always been committed to heritage conservation and protection,” said Shaikha Mai Bin Mohammad Al Khalifa.

Kuwait to give monthly payouts to help the handicapped

Unemployed Kuwaiti women looking after a handicapped person will be given KD300 ($1,080) a month, a senior official has said. Isam Bin Haydar, the deputy general director of the Public Authority for the Disabled (PAD), said that the assistance payout would be retroactive from June 2010.
