May 2, 2012

Bahrain’s crown prince said that the changes increasingly affecting the world demanded that countries create a diversified base of alliances and political, economic and commercial relations.

The expanded alliances and relations will provide greater development opportunities and potential, Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa said in Korea where he was on an official visit during which he held talks with President Lee Myung-bak, Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik and other senior officials.

Prince Salman, on his first official visit to Seoul, commended Korea’s global status and “the highly respectable and profound devotion of its leaders and people” and said that Bahrain looked forward to benefiting from its expertise, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

President Lee Myung-bak said that Bahrain and the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries were a highly-valuable strategic asset and that his country was keenly interested in promoting relations and cooperation with them. King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa last month made an official visit to Japan, the first by a Bahraini Ruler, to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations.

King Hamad held talks with Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and senior officials on ways to bolster bilateral relations and cooperation.
