Disgruntled employee accused of attempted firebomb attack

October 8, 2012

A disgruntled Pakistani employee is being held in Kuwait police custody after he allegedly planned to firebomb a school.

The electrician reportedly planned the attack after his company that was carrying out work at the school had failed to pay him for four months.

According to Kuwaiti media, the employee on Friday evening enlisted the help of his brother to carry fuel to the site.

The employee reportedly poured fuel in the designated area and connected electric wires to a light bulb and to digital timer and set the device to go off on Saturday at 2.30pm to start the fire.

However, before leaving he took off his shirt, threw it in a rubbish bin and set it ablaze.

The police said that they discovered the incendiary device and launched a massive investigation that resulted in the arrest of the two brothers.

Local Arabic daily Al Watan said that the police quizzed 12 people working for the company, but narrowed down their investigation on the Pakistani electrician who was allegedly involved in a dispute over non-payment for months.
