Four Bahrainis are believed to have died in a road accident near Madinah in western Saudi Arabia.

Reports emerging from Saudi Arabia said that three women and the bus driver were killed in the accident on Monday afternoon. The bus was carrying Bahrainis who had performed umrah.

Bahrain’s prime minister Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa has called upon the ministries of foreign affairs and health to provide urgent care to the injured passengers and to the families of the deceased.

At least 20 people are being treated at hospitals in Madinah, reports said.

Hundreds of Bahrainis took advantage of an official four-day holiday on the occasions of the National Day and the King’s accession to the throne anniversary to perform Umrah or to make long overland trips to Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
