Qatar to pay Syrian students’ tuition fees

January 29, 2013

Qatar said that it would be paying the school tuition fees for the displaced Syrian students attending two schools in the country.

The decision to allocate QR1.8 million (Dh1.81 million) for the tuition of the Syrian students in the Syrian and Jordanian schools in Qatar was taken upon directives from Crown Prince Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari News Agency reported.

According to the official news agency, “these directives were in the context of the efforts made by the State of Qatar to contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people and to providing appropriate educational opportunities for the Syrian students in Qatar.”

According to local Arabic daily Al Sharq, 220 displaced Syrians attend classes at the Syrian school and 100 at the Jordanian school.
