Blogger’s trial postponed in insult case

February 16, 2013

A Kuwaiti court on Thursday adjourned until March 7 the trial of a blogger charged with insulting the country’s Emir.

Nasser Al Dihani, a teacher with the education ministry, also faces charges of misusing his mobile to post the remarks deemed offensive by the authorities, local news site Al Aan reported.

He was arrested at the end of last year by the state security after he wrote the tweets, but was released on a KD1,000 bail (Dh13,000).

Five bloggers also charged with undermining the status of the emir were released on Wednesday.
