Kuwait court adjourns former lawmakers’ trial

March 16, 2013

A Kuwaiti court on Sunday postponed the trial of three former lawmakers on charges of undermining the status of the Emir to April 21.

Falah Al Sawagh, Bader Al Dahoom and Khalid Al Tahoos faced the charges after taking part in a forum that reportedly insulted the emir. The trio was released after paying 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars (Dh64,211) bail each.

However, the court ruled to lift a travel ban imposed on the three suspects.

The court also put off the case against former lawmaker Waleed Al Tabtabai and several employees on charges of storming a building to March 24, local news site Al Aan reported on Sunday.

The trial of blogger Rashid Al Hajiri facing charges of undermining the status of the emir was also adjourned to March 24.
