Kuwait cabinet quits to thwart grilling of PM

Kuwait’s Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah has accepted the resignation of the government, but has asked it to continue running the affairs of the country until a new cabinet is formed. The government tendered its resignation yesterday afternoon following an emergency meeting chaired by the Emir.

Doctors’ court trial put off to January 9

Bahrain’s Court of Appeals on Monday postponed the trial of 20 doctors to January 9 after the public prosecution presented new evidence against the suspects. The court was looking into the verdicts issued by the national safety court ranging between five and 15 years.

Kuwait government resigns; no reported plans to dissolve parliament

Bahrain’s Cassation Court postpones police killings trial

Bahrain’s Cassation Court on Monday postponed its verdict on the death sentences and life terms against seven Bahrainis who allegedly killed two policemen to January 9. Seven defendants have been charged with “deliberately killing” Kashef Ahmad Manzour and Mohammad Farouq Abdul Samad, both working for the interior ministry.

Bahrain education ministry adamant to extend high school day

Bahrain’s education minister has rejected parents’ complaints about a decision to extend the high school day by 45 minutes, saying that they were unfounded. “High school students in Bahrain attend 635 hours of education annually,” he said.
